I’ve been chomping at the bit ever since Jay, from You Fresh Naturals, contacted me about possibly doing a product review of their Coco-Nut Butters. I had never heard of their company before but I Googled it immediately. Besides the fact that they are a local company (located only 23 miles from my house!) they have ideals that I’m totally on board with.
Fully Paleo and Vegan nut butters made with ingredients like almond butter, coconut butter, and sweetened with dates or maple syrup. That’s it. There are no preservatives, no artificial sweeteners, and best of all: NO DAMN SOY. What’s not to love about this company? At first I thought the label meant flavored coconut butter, but it’s really a mix between coconut and almond butter.
The product he sent me in particular was the super delicious Maple-Vanilla Coco-Nut Butter. It comes in a 12 oz jar and costs $9.99.
The vanilla powder they use in this flavor is made from 100% ground vanilla beans. #paleogasm in my mouth, holy hell. I don’t even know what I would do with ground vanilla beans. Probably roll around in it. Or… smoke it?
I was worried I wouldn’t be able to make a recipe with this Coco-Nut Butter before I ate it all from the jar, but I had enough to make Maple Coco-Nut Bacon Pancakes. That’s probably the best recipe I’ve made lately, FYI. Obviously it’s because of my You Fresh Naturals not-so-secret ingredient.
I also like the looks of their nutritional label. I compared it to Justin’s Maple Almond Butter, and You Fresh Naturals seems to be very similar. YFN’s total carbs are higher (due to the use of dates as sweeteners I presume) and have 1 more gram of sugar per 2 tbsp than Justin’s. Gram shmam.
I think what makes these Coco-Nut Butters so delicious is the addition of dried unsweetened coconut. Even blended, it adds a specific texture to the smoothness of the almond butter while giving that familiar coconut taste which all Paleo people love.
