Berries in soup, who knew?
I made up this recipe in the midst of doing The 21 Day Sugar Detox from Balanced Bites. It’s day 12 of no sugar and I’ve been having huge cravings for anything spicy, and goji berries are allowed on the Good Foods List. Somewhere along the line my boyfriend made chicken stock; thus this recipe was born. And I’m so glad it was.
Goji Berries infuse this dish with a high dose of Vitamin C, but can be an expensive and somewhat exotic ingredient. The soup is just as good without them so if you don’t have any on hand, don’t sweat it. I just really enjoy the subtle sweetness in the midst of all the other amazing flavors in this recipe.
So how am I feeling at this stage in my detox?
Like sh*t. Or more like I need to TAKE a sh*t. For some reason I’m so constipated (sorry guys, T.M.I. I know) that my stomach has been bloated all week.
I’m so confused as to why this is happening. At first I thought it was from eating an entire Tupperware container of jalapeno cashew cheese, since that would make since, but I licked the remnants of it off my fingers 5 days ago… so what’s the deal, bowels?
Not to mention I skipped my period for the first time in years (yes, yes, super T.M.I. I know!!!) So either I’m pregnant or my body went into shock from detoxing off a sugar. My vote is body shock.
I’m still hoping to level out in the next few days. My body might still feel sluggish but at least my mood swings have drastically become neutral. I’m less manic, and as a result I am less depressed from crashing.
Speaking of pooping (or lack thereof), check out this repulsive failed 21DSD approved dessert recipe, which looks remarkably like a steaming pile of poop:
My Instagram Pic doesn’t do it justice.
