My apologies for slacking in the dessert department throughout the month of January. I was trying to be good, you know… the whole ‘New Year’s Resolutions’ thing. Well I promise I’m back in action just in time for Valentine’s Day.
Over the next couple weeks I’ll be focusing my efforts on romantic dessert recipes for two. Feel free at any time to double the ingredients for larger servings. I on the other hand always like whipping up mug cakes or personal treats for myself instead of large quantities.
Have you noticed that most of my recipes are usually 2 or 4 servings? That’s because my household consists of my boyfriend and I. No kids, no siblings, not even pets. So cooking huge portions is a terrible idea, especially because I’ve only just recently gotten over my fear of leftovers. Egh.
And let’s be real here, if I make enough treats for a ton of people, chances are it will end up in my mouth.
Thank God for cute ramekins.
A friend on FB gave me the idea to make crème brûlée, which has always been my second favorite dessert ever. (First comes tiramisu, obviously.)
I should NOT be allowed to own a kitchen torch, by the way. My mom just gave my torch back from my old crème brûlée days in High School. Unfortunately I’ve been making Gluten Free s’mores every night with it. Probably the best and worst idea I’ve ever had at the same time.
Feel free to opt out of the sugar-torched topping. But seriously, if my Valentine were to serve me crunch-less crème brûlée on V-day, I’d drop him faster than you can say ‘Ain’t nobody got time fo dat!’
