Usually I could care less about Valentine’s day, whether I have a significant other or not. In the past I never really celebrated it in style. One year I made heart-shaped pancakes for breakfast in bed and then my guy dumped me a week later. Ouch. That was the last time I really put much significance into the day.
But having said that, if I really was in love with Valentine’s Day, then my dream day would look something like this:
I’d wake up at 8am (which is me sleeping in, lol) and then go for a walk along the beach with my boyfriend. I LOVE Miami Beach during the morning because people are still hungover and sleeping in, so the beach is only dotted with other healthy-minded people doing their morning exercises.
After that, we would ride our bikes to a delicious brunch spot where I would get some kind of stuffed french toast made with glutenous bread that would require me to groan while cuddling in bed with my boyfriend, post-brunch.
Then I would go to a noon yoga class by myself to get spiritually right with The World. I’d come home to make lunch for my boyfriend and I. Maybe a healthy kale salad with some avocado, goat cheese, and sliced rare steak. Then we would both sit on the couch reading an equally delicious book. A witty romance novel, perhaps.
Then I would be surprised with a bouquet of gorgeous flowers (not roses, maybe just an orchid arrangement) and a gift certificate to an hour and a half massage at my local spa. I LOVE massages! But feel so guilty spending money on them, so really they are my favorite gifts ever. Ever.
After having my relaxing spa experience, I would get dressed up in something other than yoga pants and go to an amazing restaurant with my Valentine. One with to-die-for food, a cool dining environment, and some kind of entertainment. And don’t forget dessert. VERY IMPORTANT.
Later we could snuggle by the fireplace (that I don’t have) and sip hot chocolate with our matching jammies. We would watch a new episode of Elementary or True Detectives or BOTH.
And then be in bed by 11pm.
Ahhhh sounds like such a great day. A girl can dream. Good thing I’m indifferent to Valentine’s Day…
