I just watched an episode of the most disturbing reality TV show ever. Honey Boo Boo. Don’t even ask me how I came across it, the only thing that matters is that I watched it and now I’m disturbed.
Obese mother? Redneck family? 6 year old wanna-be Beauty Queen? What has the American population come to. THIS is our form of nightly entertainment folks, now let’s gather ‘round with our frozen tv dinners and eat ourselves into a diabetic coma of apathy.
Moving on to cakes in a mug! (Trust me, the irony is not lost of me.)
I first stumbled upon these amazing treats a couple months ago. Yes I live under a rock and I suck. Got that.
But what I love so much about these babies is that I get to be creative and throw in a bunch of different things each time and I end up with the perfect portion of dessert that I won’t over-eat. Hello, I can polish off an entire tray of cupcakes if given the opportunity.
These cake mugs protect me from myself.
I start with the same base each time (flour, oil, egg, pinch of salt) and then add different ingredients. A couple weeks ago when I was on my Key Lime Pie kick I made a Key Lime Cake-in-a-Mug, but forgot to take pics. It was that good.
In this instance, I had some carrots and cream cheese in the fridge so opting to make a primal carrot mug cake was a no-brainer.
Honey Boo Boo would probably like this cake.
