Today is officially day 21 of my 21 Day Sugar Detox by Balanced Bites. FINALLY.
I could have been here about 12 days ago if I hadn’t fallen off the wagon , but here I am- and oh, is it lovely.
I’m in the process of compiling my Top 10 21DSD foods for you guys, but in the meantime I’m working on a a cookbook collaboration project for Fatburningman.com . I can’t even express how freaking excited I am for this cookbook. There are some heavy hitters who are a part of it as well, so I’m crapping my pants with gratitude over here.
I promise as the release date gets closer I’ll keep you all updated.
In the meantime…
If it wasn’t for this pudding during the first week, I don’t know if I could have made it to day 7. I know the point of the detox is to cleanse your body from all sugars and empty carbs, thereby crushing your sugar cravings naturally. And that eating a sugarless dessert almost every night is kind of defeating the purpose- BUT, if there’s one thing I hate in life it’s feeling depraved from all things that make me happy. And even pseudo-desserts make me happy damnit, so put that in your Sugar Nazi pipe and smoke it.
This pudding basically tastes like the delicious innards of a pumpkin pie. I freaking love pumpkin pie. Yes, my favorite part of pumpkin pie is the crust and fresh whipped cream, but let’s try not to think about that right now.
The directions are so simple. Boil the baby carrots (no peeling necessary, woot) while I putter around the house. Blend right quick in the food processor. Store in Tupperware for later. BOOM. The only changes I made was to take out the coconut butter (because I thought it made it slightly dry) and use cashew butter for the nut butter.
I was able to limit each serving to slightly more than half a cup (which is what your carrot intake should be per serving during the detox). It was great to have this hanging out in the fridge for mini snackage scoops throughout the day.
Somewhere around day 12 I started gravitating towards chocolate avocado pudding in place of this, but that got old pretty quick. Now I barely have cravings for dessert. If I want something sweet I’ll snack on some coconut-cashew butter instead.
I thought it was pretty funny that if you Google ’21 Day Detox Desserts’, you get a ton of different people posting about this Carrot Cake Pudding. I thought, ‘how boring’. But now I get it. I’ve experimented with a ton of different Detox approved recipes, and I really think this one is in the Top 5. Cudos to you PaleOMG! For helping us 21DSDers get through the worst of the detox hump.
