This recipe (or at least a version of it) funny enough is from Giada De Laurentiis. Random, I know. My mom went through a period where all she watched was Everyday Italian and consequently finally started cooking really delicious family meals. I’m pretty sure this dessert was from her
first BEST cookbook, and I know I’ve made it about 50 times. The original recipe is made with Nutella, which is now Satan, so ever since I became primal I’ve been making it with super dark chocolate and nut butter instead.
Thanksgiving is right around the corner and I’m just now getting 100% back on track from my Key West vacation. I really binged out on crap those three days and it’s been tough trying to clean up my act. I discovered these things called “Strawberry Pillows” from The Fresh Market. OHMYGOD. Kill me now.
They are these huge croissants stuffed ridiculously high with whipped cream, boston cream pie filling, sliced strawberries, chocolate fudge, and covered in powdered sugar. Like the size of me head. UGH! Needless to say I’m still recovering from them. My rosacea is off the charts, I’m now battling an acne breakout, and I’m still so uncomfortably bloated.
It just proves once again that I cannot handle sugar/wheat/processed foods even in small doses. One bite and I’m off to the races. Does anybody else get like this? Sometimes I feel like I’m the only person who struggles with sugar addiction here in the primal community. Living Primally doesn’t come easy at first. I REALLY have to work at growing towards my ideal diet versus fighting it.
Ok, #therapysession is over. Back to the goodies.
